May Allah grant us Forgiveness

O Allah have mercy upon me, and forgive my sins allahumma aameen

Bismillah Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh alhamdulillah Allah has shown us countless examples of the believers asking and hoping for forgiveness. In this surah, Prophet Ibrahim (alaihi wa sallaam) is demonstrating this because Allah alone is able to do that.

Excerpt from pg. 80

Ash-Shu’ara’ 26:82

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

English – Mohsin Khan/Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali

And Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection).

Arabic – Tafsir as-Saadi

﴿وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ﴾ فهذا هو وحده المنفرد بذلك، فيجب أن يفرد بالعبادة والطاعة، وتترك هذه الأصنام، التي لا تخلق، ولا تهدي، ولا تمرض، ولا تشفي، ولا تطعم ولا تسقي، ولا تميت، ولا تحيي، ولا تنفع عابديها، بكشف الكروب، ولا مغفرة الذنوب.
فهذا دليل قاطع، وحجة باهرة، لا تقدرون أنتم وآباؤكم على معارضتها، فدل على اشتراككم في الضلال، وترككم طريق الهدى والرشد. قال الله تعالى: ﴿وَحَاجَّهُ قَوْمُهُ قَالَ أَتُحَاجُّونِّي فِي اللهِ وَقَدْ هَدَانِ﴾ الآيات.
