Ramadan Prep

Bismillah Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh Yaa Muslimaat, alhamdulillah Allah has allowed us to be at the approach of the month of Ramadan by entering the month of Shaban 1445 AH, leaving us with 29 or 30 days before the blessed month to arrive. May Allah allow us to reach it, benefit from it, and obtain the blessing and forgiveness Allah grants throughout the month Allahumma aameen.

This is the perfect time and opportunity to increase your good actions in hopes of achieving those objectives in the coming days in shaa’Allah.

From the blessings and virtues of the month of Ramadan is the revelation of the Noble Quran. If you are not currently reading daily you can increase your efforts by reading one or two pages after each prayer bi’ithnillah. For those of you who are reading daily increase your efforts to four or more pages per prayer in shaa’Allah.

Other things you can prepare yourself for are:

1. Giving in Sadaqa – start going through your closet! Think about all the clothes that you have accumulated over the year. Choose based on what you yourself would want to be given.

2. Giving gifts – gifts can be from a variety of sources and not necessarily from new items. Homemade gifts are just as valuable and lovely, and even more precious because it shows that you spent your time making and preparing your gift rather than just grabbing something off of a shelf.

3. Reading other authentic text – such as the Seerah or Biographies of the companions, sahabiyyat, scholars, and the history of Islam. Learning ahaadith, and supplications.

4. Visiting your elders – there are an abundance of elders in our communities by Allah’s mercy and I’m sure they would appreciate a visit from time to time in shaa’Allah

5. Visiting the sick, sisters who have just given birth, or those who have lost relatives recently – as always in this situation your kindness and compassion, empathy and strength, can help your Muslim sisters get through a difficult journey.

6. Smiles – a brilliant and loving smile can all by itself bring happiness to you and someone else.

There are many ways to increase your good deeds and your suggestions will be helpful. Certainly, reminders are for the believers. May Allah accept mine and your efforts to seek His face only and bless us to be steadfast and upright Allahumma aameen.
